being my 1st post i figured i should relate a personal experience.
a few months ago i decided to stop reporting time.
i'm mentally out of this cult now but still trapped because of family.
Welcome- Thanks for sharing.
just a quick thought.... we know that the org loves to paint all those who fade or leave as "negative, bitter and unhappy"...because of course "the truth is the happiest way to live".
so, never allow ourselves to be that way when talking with witnesses, or family members still in.. show them that we are happy, our lives are fulfilled and positive.. then they have no ammunition.
also, it helps other doubters to see that there is life in the world beyond the org..
I went to Starbucks last Saturday and there were about 15 witnesses outside having coffee. When I pulled up one sister, an elder’s wife, smiled and said “Hi Dazed.” I smiled and said “Hey, hows it going?” Then my kids and I went inside. Her husband was sitting with his back to me when I pulled up. He was the elder that invited me to the memorial the night before via voicemail. I sent him a text message back: “I respectfully decline this or any future invitations.” So I understand and appreciate him not acknowledging me. I always liked him. I just don’t want to give them a reason to bother me.
When I left, my closest friend from the hall who was sitting there, he didn’t see me until I came out, got up and came over while I was buckling my kids in. I didn’t know how he felt about me anymore. He shook my hand and we chatted for a few minutes. He told me he wanted to get together and catch up. I said sure. We still had each other’s phone numbers. I asked him if he was sure. He told me he didn’t care what others thought.
I smile and acknowledge them if they do the same. I understand being bitter. Everyone’s experience in the borg is different. I believe it is much better for them to see me and Mrs. Dazed and the kids happy rather than reinforcing their bullshit belief that apostates are angry, bitter and mentally diseased.
I often get a hug from one other sister that we knew. Most others ignore me. To those who ignore me, I don't go out of my way to be friendly or mean.

stuckin- 100% agree.
i use to hate when people who made goodbye posts on message boards.
why would they think that just because you no longer post on a chevy truck forum or a los angeles lakers forum the world would crumble around those still left there.
this place is definitely different.
Best of luck! I'm still too addicted to move on.
i believe that the older you are the harder it is to leave the watchtower.. .
i am attempting to get a list of ages people learnt the "truth" and what age they left.. .
uun.
Born in, baptized at 13 and left at 28. Cold turkey. I didnt leave that last meeting knowing it would be the last one. It was a couple weeks later that my wife in tears asked if I was going back after missing 2 full weeks in a row. I told her I couldnt do it anymore. She followed a year later when she was 28, also born in and baptized at 17.
just wanted to show the activity in downtown detroit from the convention.
trafic is on jam!.

Jehovahs witnesses are a perfect organization run by imperfect human beings. There are no perfect people on this eaeth, and we all have problems. Whether it be mental, physical, or the like. Jehovahs witnesses are people too. And people mess up. They do things they shouldn't. But focus on the good that the organization has done. They conduct bible studies free of charge in over 236 countries around the globe!! I don't know any other religion that does that. All other religions are looking for money money money $$$. This organization is run solely by voluntary donations. No collection is ever taken. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. Reply · Like · 13 · 16 hours ago

.. if armageddon is "imminent", why is wt focused on sight-seeing, entertainment, travel, etc.
instead of preaching and saving people??.
Wow. This is NOT the cult I was raised in. I’ve been out 3 years this September.
Those poor, dumb, misled people suckers. I saw my niece and her friend from the hall sing that song “Listen, Obey and Be Blessed” for a school talent show. Sooo much brain washing.
P.S. The white guy narrating screams pedophile!
The whole video gave me the creeps.
Oh, and the acting is horrific by the family. So sad.
CULTTTTTTT!!!!!!
my congregation got a reminder today to start donating money.
elder said that after the letter on the new donation arrangement was read, the contributions for that fund went from the average (i believe it was $500 or so) to $0.
after that reminder, cash was put into those boxes.
I am reminded of George Carlin's funny quote:
as i'm making my seventh cup for the day, i thought it would be a good idea to have an appreciation thread.
what's the best ground coffee?
beans?.
Buy an Aero Press. Best cup of coffee for the price of the machine.
